FAQ

Getting started

What is Ward Bulletins?

One place for your ward's announcements, events, sign-ups and missionary letters, in place of scattered group texts and emails. Each group in the ward posts its own news, and you see the groups you belong to.

How does it work?

A ward leader signs up and creates a bulletin, then shares an invite link. Everyone in the ward joins for free.

What does it cost?

The yearly subscription is charged once per bulletin, not per member. Members never pay.

Do members have to sign up?

No. Every ward has a public link anyone can visit, no account needed. Leaders decide what goes on it.

I'm not a ward leader. Can I still use it?

Yes. Create a bulletin for whatever you want and name it anything. You can change the name later. It's free forever if you only need one group, and anyone can join your free bulletin.

How do I join my ward?

Open the invite link your ward shared, or enter your ward code to request access. A ward admin approves the request, and then the ward opens for you.

I belong to more than one ward. How do I switch?

Open the menu (top right) and choose Switch ward. The app remembers the ward you picked last.

Feed

What's in my feed?

Posts from every group you belong to, newest first. Use Everything and Urgent at the top to narrow it, and the star to see only your favorite groups.

What makes a post urgent?

Whoever posts it marks it urgent and picks when the urgency ends (a week if they don't). It carries an Urgent badge and appears on the Urgent tab until then.

Who can post?

Contributors and owners of a group can post to it, and ward admins can post anywhere. If you don't see the compose button on a group, ask its owner to make you a contributor.

What can a post include?

Text, up to ten photos, a date and time for an event, a location, RSVP (Going, Maybe, Not going), and a sign-up sheet for time slots or things to bring.

Why did a post disappear?

Event posts are archived after the event, by default a day after it ends, so the feed stays about what is coming. Older posts are also removed after the period your ward keeps posts for.

Calendar

What shows on the calendar?

Every post with a date, from the groups you belong to, plus anything you've signed up for. Switch between the list and month views at the top.

Can I see these events in my phone’s calendar?

Yes. On the Calendar tab, tap the calendar button at the top right to link the ward's calendar to Google, Apple or Outlook. It stays up to date on its own.

Why don't I see a Calendar tab?

The calendar comes with a full plan. On the free plan, dated posts still appear in the feed.

Groups

How do I join a group?

On the Groups tab, open Other groups in the ward and tap Request to join. The group's owner approves it. Everyone belongs to the ward's main group automatically.

What do the star and the bell do?

The star makes a group a favorite, so you can narrow the feed, calendar and weekly digest to just your favorites. The bell chooses which emails that group sends you.

What are viewer, contributor and owner?

Viewers read the group. Contributors can also post. Owners can do both, approve people who ask to join, and change members’ roles.

Missionary walls

What is a wall?

A home for one missionary's weekly letters. The missionary emails the wall's address, and every member of the ward can read the letters and see the photos.

How does a missionary post to their wall?

They send their usual weekly email to the address shown on the wall. Only mail from the missionary's own address, or other senders an admin has added, is accepted.

Can I write back?

Yes. Each wall shows how to write to the missionary directly. Letters on the wall come from the missionary; replies go to their own inbox.

What happens when a missionary comes home?

An admin marks the wall as returned home. It moves to the Returned home list, where the letters stay readable, and it can be exported as a PDF keepsake.

Questions

How do I ask about a post?

Open the post and ask your question there. The person who posted it is told, and their answer comes back to you on the Questions tab under Asked.

What is To answer?

Questions people have asked on your posts. Each waits there until you answer it, so nothing slips through.

What are group questions?

Questions asked of a whole group rather than one post. Ask one from "Ask the group" on the group's page; tap View all there to see every question in the group. Yours also wait under Groups on the Questions tab, and owners see the ones waiting on their group.

When does a group question go away?

When the person who asked, or a group leader, marks it resolved, or when it is deleted. An answered question also clears by itself after 30 days with no new answers. A question nobody has answered stays until someone does.

Notifications and email

What emails will I get?

A weekly digest on Saturday morning, plus whatever you turn on per group: urgent posts, questions and answers, and event-day reminders. Change them from Settings, under Notifications.

How do I get fewer emails?

Set the weekly digest to Favorites or Off, and switch off the group emails you do not need. Every notification email also has a link to manage them.

Why am I asked to confirm my email?

Ward Bulletins only emails a confirmed address. Until you confirm, you will not receive notifications. Choose Confirm your email in the menu to get the link.

Account and settings

How do I change my name or photo?

Menu, then Settings, then Profile.

Can I use dark mode?

Yes. Settings, under Appearance, switches between light and dark on this device. Your ward's colors follow along.

I forgot my password.

Choose Forgot password on the sign-in screen and we will email you a link. If you sign in with Google, use Continue with Google instead.

Running the ward

How do I invite people?

Admin, then Invites, to create a link you can share. People can also ask to join with the ward code; their requests wait at the top of Admin for you to approve.

How do I make someone an admin or change their groups?

Admin, then Users, shows every member and the groups they're in, and is where you change their access.

Can people outside the ward see posts?

Only if you turn on public posts in Admin. A post marked public waits for an admin to approve it, then shows on the ward’s public page, which has a QR code you can print.

How do I change the ward's name, logo or colors?

Admin, then Ward. Colors apply to every member and each has a light and dark version.

Plans and subscriptions

What does the free plan include?

One group, events up to 3 months ahead, and posts kept for 90 days. A full plan adds unlimited groups, missionary walls, the calendar and its linked feed, events a year ahead, and posts kept a year.

How does subscribing work?

Admin, then Plan. A subscription is one payment through Stripe for a year; nothing renews automatically. Stripe emails your receipt.

When can I renew, and do I lose days by renewing early?

Renewal opens 30 days before your plan ends. Your remaining days carry over, so the new year starts when the current one ends.

What happens if our plan ends?

The ward moves to the free plan. Nothing is deleted right away: extra groups and walls are hidden until you subscribe again. After 30 days, posts older than 90 days start being removed.

What is a promo code?

A code that gives a ward six months of the full plan. Each ward can use one, and not while a subscription is active.
